Who wouldn’t have guessed, looking at my herd, that I love black goats? Funny thing is - I bought this kid based on his Maternal parentage before seeing a photo and realizing he’s solid black. Well, he sure fits right in!

I found his breeder’s program to be exactly the type I go hunting for when I’d like to bring in a new herdsire. Not only is his dam well represented in her breeder’s program and on her breeder’s website, there are also several maternal relatives to review for consistency both in admirable merits as well as production. One late night, scrolling Facebook, as we do when we want to both catch up and shut down, a buckskin doe went across my screen. Hold up! Swipe back up. Who is this? That doe was CH Wings & Caprines LJR Paris EX91. And didn’t she just so happen to have a buckling looking for work - and didn’t I have a great transport option from friend extroidair Mary over at Lover’s Point Caprines who was heading my way! And so I obsessively poured over Paris and her relatives and was left excited at the prospect of bringing Notre-Dame out West! Notre-Dame is co-owned with Sarah Hawkins, Castle Rock.
