Sera is pictured dry, pregnant, and in full winter coat. Also, I realized too late that her rear leg was extended, making her rump look a tad steep. I also feed a great deal of carbs in the winter and Sera loves her some carbs. Me too, Sera, me too. Part of the success of a lactation is the condition of a doe when bred and during pregnancy. Surely this means Sera should have an excellent lactation because she is clearly in “excellent condition.” Fur is very misleading, and this photo is just an obligatory placeholder until I get around to getting a clipped in-milk photo.

Sera has a solid, socked on, well attached udder with great rear extension lending to her capacity and a beautiful smooth fore like I’ve come to expect from both her mother and paternal grandmother. Her teats are large, soft, and easy to express. She is the best of both sides of her pedigree, showing increased body capacity over her dam at the same age, while bringing in elegance and dairy character over her paternal side.
